ANAMBRA: Naval patrol team nabs fake soldier
A fake soldier identified as Mr. Abdullahi Auwal Yakubu has been arrested at Kara, Atani road, Onitsha, Anambra state by a naval patrol team.
The arrest of the fake soldier who was dressed in Nigerian Army camouflage and combat boots was confirmed by Col. Sagir Musa, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 82 Division.
“On interview, the man could not provide correct answers to the questions put up to him, thereby exposing him as an obvious impersonator,” Musa said.
Continuing, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations said; “Further questioning revealed that the culprit had been in the habit of harassing and extorting members of the public under the guise of being a soldier with fake identification card as evidence.”

Musa stated that the patrol team had handed over the impersonator over to the troops of 302 Artillery Regiment deployed for duty at the Onitsha Head Bridge.
“He had since been questioned at the military police orderly room with the view to handing him over to the civil police. Members of the public are please requested to take note of the occasional tendency of hoodlums who disguise as military personnel with intent to defraud unsuspecting members of the public”.
“The public are also requested to report such bad elements whenever they see or suspect such person to the nearest police station or any security office close to them in order to arrest such person,” he added.

We still have a lot of them every where who patrol themselves as military personnel to incite evil practices. As we all know that Nigerians are gullible because we dread soldiers and no one is bold enough to query their originality.

The fake soldiers are not even as much as fake police officers. They even use the police uniform to rob motorists, it is that bad

They plenty in the North and in the East. At least this guy will serve as lesson to others because I believe that guy would have seen hell in the hands of the soldiers before they will hand him over to the Nigerian police

Impersonation can not be eradicated, it can only be at reduced rate. Since the fake soldier has been caught, I’m sure by now he must have gone through hell.

But what come to fore that the naval officers were asking him of his Authenticity? The fact is that if God wants to catch someone, he will definitely get such in one way.
