The impasse created by the death of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Kogi State governorship election, Prince Abubakar Audu, is still causing ripples within the party.

It was gathered from reliably sources that the National Executive Council of the party has summoned all stakeholders in the impasse to a meeting in Abuja today to find ways of resolving it.

This is coming ahead of the supplimentary election to be carried out by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday.

The party has been divided into four blocks over the Kogi elections, with each group insisting it should provide the panacea to the problem that is quietly tearing the party apart.

Among the four groups are those within the party who insist that the party elders’ decision which has thrown up Yahaya Bello as candidate to replace the lat Audu should be adhered to.

The second group is that of running mate to Audu, Abiodun Faleke, who are said to have the backing of national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

They insist that the mandate of Audu should automatically fall to Faleke as the running mate, to become governor-elect. Faleke has written to the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun rejecting the nomination of Bello as candidate of the party for the Saturday supplimentary election.

The third group which is refered to as Villa group is made up of party members in support of the position of President Muhammadu Buhari’s position on the logjam.

Another group is made up of ardent supporters of the late Audu, who insist that his son, Mohammed should be made to step into yhe shoes of his father, to carry the mandate.

The party is at the cross roads as members of each of the group have strong positions on their stance with no indication of shifting ground.

The meeting today in Abuja is geared towardsseeking asolution to the impasse

Outside of the meeting venue, supporters of the Faleke group, and those of Bello were engaged in a clash throwing sticks and stones at each other while security agents watched helplessly.
