APC will soon die, we’ll chase them out in 2019, PDP boasts

The Peoples Democratic Party at the caucus meeting at its national headquarters in Abuja on Monday vowed that it was would return to power in 2019.
The party said that only a miracle can stop it from chasing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) away.

They party also said that the APC is on the verge of death and harped on the need for its leadership to continue to do good works so that those who left the party could begin to return as well as new members joining the party.

These views were expressed by leaders and chieftains of the party at its caucus meeting chaired by the National Caretaker Committee chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

In his speech at the meeting Makarfi said, “If PDP sustains the current effort at rebuilding its structures, I assure you it would only take a miracle for us not to win the election in 2019.”

Makarfi who insisted that the party was not going to punish anyone who played part in the party leadership struggle between him and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, however cautioned, “While we are reconciling, we will not give what belongs to a person to another. We intend to bring everybody on board and then move our party forward.”

Former President. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who was also at the meeting, in the midst of a thunderous ovation, expressed optimism that the party will once again become the toast of Nigerians.

He said, “Today is day of joy for all of us, I decided to come to this meeting not to present any speech but. I came to thank the leaders and members of the party. I felt that this first meeting is the best time to come and thank you all for standing with the party.

“I believe that key decisions are going to be made tonight on how to chart the way forward. Let us cooperate with the party leadership to rebuild the party. All our efforts within this period should be geared towards rebuilding the party.”

Speaking further, Jonathan told the cheering members of the party that already some non-members of PDP called him after the Supreme Court judgment to show their solidarity.

He added, “In spite of negative tantrums against PDP, it is still the party of all Nigerians.”

He called on members of the party to “endeavour to go home and canvass support for the PDP. If this party must return to power, if this party will come back to form, we must all be ready to go back to our villages to work hard for its success, and stop being Abuja politicians,” Fayose said.
