APC wins Katsina bye election

Alhaji Ahmed Babba Kaita of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been declared the winner of the Katsina North senatorial bye election.

The election was conducted on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to fill the vacant seat left by late Senator Buka Mustapha, who died a while ago.

Ahmed Babba Kaita of the APC defeated his elder brother, Kabir Babba Kaita of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The returning officer, Prof Hudu Ayuba-Abdullahi, announced the result of the election at about 4.42 am on Sunday UN Daura, stating that Ahmed Babba Kaita polled 224,607 to defeat the candidate of the PDP, who polled 59,724.

Ahmed Babba Kaita is currently a member of the House of Representatives.
