AUSTRALIA: 32-yr-old man charged with murder for ramming his vehicle into pedestrians

Former Afghan refugee Saeed Noori, 32, has been charged with 18 counts of attempted murder after he was accused of driving his car into pedestrians in the Australian city of Melbourne.

The accused appeared before an Australian magistrate court on Saturday and was remanded in custody but not after the magistrate called for a psychological report on Mr Noori is scheduled to be back in court on Wednesday.

The attack left 12 people injured who are still being treated in hospital after Thursday’s incident in Flinders Street with three others said to be in critical condition.

Nine of the injured are foreign nationals from countries including South Korea, Ireland, Venezuela, China, India and Italy.

Police have said they do not believe the attack terrorism related and that Mr Noori has mental health issues.
