AUSTRIA: 1 dead, many hurt as two trains collide

Another tragic event was recorded in the Austrian province of Styria when one person died and many others were injured following a collision between two trains according to local police.

Reports by police at the scene of the incident revealed that one train derailed after the incident which took place just before 1 p.m. local time (1200 GMT) in the southeastern town of Niklasdorf.

The incident is coming hours after the tragic plane crash incident in Russia which killed 71 passengers including the crew members on board a Saratov Airline jet minutes after it took-off from Moscow’s Domodedovo airport on Sunday.

Bad weather, human error or technical failure are seen as possible causes of the incident and according to Russia’s Investigative Committee, “when the plane crashed it was intact, there was no fire, and the explosion happened on impact”.

Earlier some eyewitnesses had reported seeing the jet ablaze as it plummeted.
