The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa has described the All Progressives Congress (APC ) governorship candidate in the state, David Lyon, as “a pipeline security surveillance contractor without leadership experience.

The party said, “Lyon lacked the requisite credentials, experience and pedigree to become Bayelsa governor.”

Meanwhile, the PDP has described its governorship candidate in the state, Senator Douye Diri, as the only candidate with the ability and competence to become the next governor of the state.

In a statement by the party’s secretary, Godspower Keku, the PDP said it was happy that Diri emerged as its candidate for the November 16 election in the state.

It added that Bayelsa needed a leader with vast experience in public service.

Describing Diri as a dedicated public official with years of exemplary service to the development of Bayelsa, Ijaw nation and the country, the party added that Diri had been a commissioner, a principal executive secretary to the governor, a member of the House of Representatives, and sitting senator.

While it congratulated Diri, it equally applauded the other 20 aspirants, who contested the governorship primaries under its platform, for their maturity and respect for the party’s interest.
