Despite assurances of improved security, suspected herdsmen attacked Logo Local Government Area of Benue State in the early hours of Saturday, killing 11 persons.

This latest attack is coming barely six days after Fulani herdsmen attacked five communities in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state in which over 20 persons were murdered.

Confirming the incident, State Police Command spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu, said incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when the villagers were asleep.

Yamu added that four persons were killed in the attack.

The Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Terver Akase, also confirmed the report.

However, other sources as contacted by Punch, put the casualty figure at 11.

It was also revealed that the herdsmen who came to Ukemberagga/Tsewarves, Tse Toradi, all in Tombo community in Mbagber ward of Gaambe-Tiev of the council area, invaded the village in the early hours, destroyed houses and shot indiscriminately.
