Nigerian Air Force plane crashes

A Nigerian Air Force plane is reported to have crashed in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. The Director, Defence Information, Colonel Abubakar Rabe, confirmed the incident to newsmen late Saturday night. Details of what happened remain sketchy.

Director of Defense Information for the Nigerian Armed Forces, Col Rabe Abubakar has confirmed the incident.

He said the F7-Ni fighter jet, with registration number, NAF801, was “returning to base from a mission when it crashed around Hong, in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
He said: “There was no survival as the pilot of the aircraft lost his life in the unfortunate incident.”

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Adesola Amosu has also reportedly set up a panel of inquiry to unravel the circumstances responsible for the sad incident.

The northeast of Nigeria remains the hotbed of insurgency and terrorism spearheaded by the Boko Haram sect. Lately, the group had made attempts to seize a military command outpost in Geidam, Yobe State.
