CAF names Best XI for Nations Cup group phase

As the ongoing Africa Cup of Nation in Gabon reaches the second round from Saturday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the best XI of the group stage.

In a 4-3-3 formation, the following players made the team:

Goalkeeper:Fabrice Ondoa Ebogo (Cameroon)

Defenders:Ahmed Fathi (Egypt), Ahmed Hegazy (Egypt), Modou Kara Mbodji (Senegal) and Hamza Mendyl (Morocco).

Midfielders: Mohammed Ben Amor (Tunisia), Youssef Msakni (Tunisia) and Boussoufa Mbark (Morocco)

Attackers: Junior Kabananga Kalonji (DR Congo), Naim Sliti (Tunisia) and Denis Bouanga (Gabon)

The quater-finals begin Saturday, and the following are schedules for the teams left to battle for spots in the last four of the biennial championship:

Saturday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. in Libreville —– Burkina Faso vs Tunisia

Saturday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. in Franceville —- Senegal vs Cameroon

Sunday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. in Oyem —– DR Congo vs Ghana

Sunday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. in Port Gentil —— Egypt vs Morocco
