Super Eagles duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho were in action for Leicester City who crashed out of the Carabao Cup as they lost to Manchester City on penalties.

While Ndidi played from beginning of the game to the end, Iheanacho started but was substituted 20 minutes to time.

The quarter-final game played at the King Power Stadium saw the hosts trailing from the 14th minute from a sweet low goal by Kevin de Bruyne.

Leicester were poor in the opening 45 minutes but regrouped at half-time and levelled the contest through Marc Albrighton’s well-struck effort on 73 minutes.

The game went on to penalties and the visitors won 3-1.

The Foxes have been eliminated from all five of their previous League Cup meetings with Manchester City, including in this round in each of the last two seasons in a penalty shootout.

“A tough game – it is always difficult at Leicester,” City boss Pep Guardiola said after the match.

In another Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash, League One side Burton shocked the Championship’s Middlesbrough to also advance to the last four.
