COLOMBIA: 3 killed in shopping mall blast

Tragedy struck in the Colombian capital of Bogota when a blast at an upscale shopping mall claimed the lives of three women and wounded nine others.

Reports say the deadly blast occurred after an explosive device detonated in a female restroom of the busy Andino shopping centre located in an exclusive area of Bogota.

“I was taking care of a customer when I heard the explosion,” said one shopping centre employee.

“They told everyone to evacuate and then we found out that a person had been killed and several others injured.”

The explosion was denounced by Bogota Mayor Enrique Penalosa after police said the device was placed in a toilet bowl in the second-floor restroom.

“We regret dearly this cowardly terrorist bombing and we are pained by the victims,” he said.
