IKOYIGATE: Court sacks Union Bank’s claim, orders permanent forfeiture of flat to FG

Flat 7B Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) uncovered $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23,218,000 hid in iron cabinets and “Ghana-must-go” bags in April has temporarily been forfeited to the Federal Government.

This was sequel to the order of Justice Saliu Saidu of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday, who gave the ruling following an ex parte application by the EFCC on the matter.

Mrs. Folashade Oke, who is the wife of Ayodele Oke, the recently dismissed director general of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), according to the EFCC owns the flat.

The anti-graft agency had alleged that it discovered that Mrs. Oke made a cash payment of $1.658 million for the purchase of the flat between August 25 and September 3, 2015, with a company name, Chobe Ventures Limited.

The EFCC further alleged that she and her son, Master Ayodele Oke Junior, were directors of Chobe Ventures Limited and that the payment for the purchase of the flat was made to one Fine and Country Limited.

When I look at this country called Nigeria, all I see are people who don’t care about those suffering. How can someone harbor such money in a country where thousands are hungry?
