DASUKIGATE: Ekweremadu comes to Metuh's rescue, stands as surety

The Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has offered to be one of the sureties for the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, in his trial over alleged N400million fraud and money laundering.

Ekweremadu agreed to stand as surety for Metuh after one of his earlier sureties, Dr. Olugbumi Usim-Wilson, applied to withdraw.

Metuh is being prosecuted on a seven-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alongside his company, Destra Investment Limited. He was accused of receiving N400million from the alleged  $2.1billion arms fund.

Metuh’s lawyer, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, at the resumed sitting on Monday, informed the court of his intention to use Ekweremadu as one of his sureties.
