Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has reportedly rewarded the national men’s football team with $60,000 (about N22,000,000) following their victories over Seychelles and Egypt in Asaba.

The governor, who played host to the Super Eagles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium last week Friday and on Tuesday, is impressed with the wins claimed by the boys.

According to a report on CSN, the players will share $50,000 while the head coach, Gernot Rohr, and the rest of the coaching crew will pocket the remaining $10,000.

The Eagles claimed a 3-1 win over Seychelles in a dead-rubber Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier last week Friday before defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 last night.

Goals by Odion Ighalo, Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon were enough to earn Nigeria the win over the Pirates as a first half equaliser by Rody Melanie was of no effect.

On Tuesday, an early goal by Denmark-based Paul Onuachu made the difference as Nigeria secured their first win over the Pharaohs in 29 years.

Both sides are qualified for the AFCON which is set to kickoff on June 21, 2019 – in Egypt.
