Despite apology, passenger dragged off United Airlines plans to sue

69-year-old passenger, identified as Dr David Dao, who was forcefully dragged off a United Airlines plan and bloodied in the process is seeking legal action after the embarrassment meted out to him.

The passenger who suffered a broken nose and concussion when he was violently removed from a flight in Chicago in an incident which went viral online sparking international uproar is in the process of filing a lawsuit against the airline according to his lawyer.

Reports say a petition has been filed by Dao’s lawyers in court requesting that the city, which operates O’Hare International Airport, and United Airlines preserve evidence related to the incident. They also said a lawsuit was forthcoming.

“This lawsuit, among other things, hopefully, will create a not just national discussion, but international discussion, on how we’re going to be treated going forward,” Demetrio said.

“For a long time, airlines, United in particular, have bullied us.”

The petition is coming after the CEO of United Airlines, Oscar Munoz apologised over the incident.

Munoz promised a thorough review of the airline’s practices and the apology came after a deluge of criticism of the carrier’s action on a flight on Sunday and its initial explanation of it.

“I continue to be disturbed by what happened on this flight and I deeply apologise to the customer forcibly removed and to all the customers aboard,” CEO Oscar Munoz said.

“I want you to know that we take full responsibility and we will work to make it right,” he added.
