Despite Gov Fayose’s efforts, herdsmen allegedly kill pregnant woman in Ekiti

Despite the efforts of Governor Ayodele Fayose in promulgating the anti-open grazing law, local hunters and vigilante groups to guide against herdsmen attacking citizens of his state, report say that a pregnant woman was early hours of Thursday killed in the state by assailants suspected to be herdsmen.

The incident which claimed the life of the woman with an eight months pregnancy who hails from Tiv area of Benue State, but resides in Ekiti, took place in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti.

According to the report, several other persons were injured following the attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, on Thursday urged President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to be decisive and quickly do something to end the killing of innocent Nigerians by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

He said in a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, that the government should urgently arrest and prosecution the culprits in the killings of Nigerians in the Middle-Belt and other parts of the country.

The Ekiti Speaker also took time out to campaign for Fayose, saying he was confident that Fayose would turn around the fortune of Nigeria if elected president in the 2019 election.

He called on Nigerian youths to brace up and learn the act of governance in order to “ease out archaic politicians who cannot move along with new trends.”
