The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, may have started the process of closing in on the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, as the anti-graft agency on Wednesday arrested her husband, Rear Admiral Madueke.

According to reports, Rear Admiral Madueke was arrested on Wednesday morning in Abuja by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) but released on administrative bail to return to the agency’s Abuja head office on Thursday.

Confirming the arrest, a source at the EFCC said the arrest of the husband of the former Minister, who was quizzed for several hours, was in connection with the alleged laundering of over $600,000 through his personal accounts.

The retired Naval officer is expected to return to the anti graft agency’s office on Thursday for more questioning.

It would be recalled that the minister had been questioned by the metropolitan police in United Kingdom over allegations bordering on money laundering and bribery.
