In from Olumide Olaoluwa …
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is unrelenting in spreading its dragnet around the country to pull in more public officials suspected of corrupt practices while in office, even as Nigerians lament that they are yet to see the agency fully prosecute or secure a win in the numerous cases it is handling.
New casualties who have been enmeshed in the anti-graft agency’s net include former Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adeolu Adeleke and some lieutenants of former governor Rasheed Ladoja.
The EFCC is also said to have invited former Bauchi State governor, Isa Yuguda for questioning over alleged disappearance of a state owned aircraft, which has become a subject of controversy lately after it was declared “missing” by Yuguda’s successor.
The agency on Monday grilled the immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang, over alleged fraud that trailed the controversial recruitment into the service.
It was gathered that Adeleke and the invited former lawmakers who were summoned last month, finally honoured the invitation last week. Their appearance was in connection with the alleged sales of over N1.5billion shares belonging to the State during Ladoja’s administration.
It was learnt that they were however allowed to go home after serious drilling over the transaction.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi had claimed Ladoja refunded N500million to the state coffers through the EFCC being part of the alleged stolen money, but the former governor vehemently denied making any such refund, forcing Ajimobi to publish bromide of cheques purportedly issued by Ladoja for the refund.
Ccompetent sources confirmed that Paradang was interrogated over fraud-related matters but could not confirm if it was in relation to the failed recruitment bid at stadia across Nigeria when no fewer than 15 job seekers lost their lives or the subsequent one, in which 1600 were enlisted.
Paradang reportedly arrived the EFCC headquarters in the Wuse 2 District of Abuja at 10am and was immediately taken into the interrogation room by EFCC’s operatives, were he was quizzed for hours
Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman for the EFCC, confirmed the invitation but declined to give details.
