Nigeria heading for economic disaster, PDP says
In from Victor Ebimomi …
President Muhammadu Buhari has once again been picked by the radar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was hit hard by the party which described him as lacking in clear-cut fiscal direction.
The party, through its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said the country has been on a rapid fall since Buhari assumed office because of lack of a clear-cut policy direction and an economic team to deal with domestic and global challenges facing the country as a developing economy.
“Whereas the PDP is in full support of the president’s effort in tackling corruption and insurgency, the party is however concerned about the grave economic situation we now face as well as indices from global economic watchers, which this administration has failed to give deserving attention, despite its predictable negative impact”, he said.

The party argued that with the prevailing situation, the country is heading towards economic disaster and it is duty-bound to raise the alarm.
“Mr. President, this is no longer about politics and partisanship. It is about the economy of our dear nation and the wellbeing of the Nigerian citizens”, he said in a statement on Monday.
The PDP maintained that it was now imperative on the APC-led government to give more attention to the economy rather than attacking perceived political opponents.
