Europa: Giroud hits milestone in Arsenal win; Everton, Lyon draw

Olivier Giroud reached a century of goals for Arsenal after striking once in the Europa League clash with BATE Borisov on Thursday night.

The France international converted a penalty for his 100th goal for the club, making it 4-1 in the second half of the match that ended 4-2 in Arsenal’s favour.

Theo Walcott scored twice in the game and Arsenal’s other goal was scored by Rob Holding – his first goal for the club.

The win meant Arsene Wengers men maintained a 100% start to the Europa League, having won their first group game against Bundesliga side, Cologne.

At Goodison Park, Premier League side, Everton, blew a 2-1 lead with two minutes to go as 10-man Apollon Limassol drew level and escaped with a point.

Goals by Wayne Rooney and Nikola Vlasic were not enough to hand the English side their first Europa League win this season, as they had fallen 3-0 to Atalanta in their first outing.

In the group’s other game, Olympique Lyon drew 1-1 with Atalanta in France.
