Ex-Gov Aliyu mocks APC for inability to hold convention

Former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, has said that nothing but fear remains the reason the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has refused to hold national convention after the first they had which brought in its current executives.

The former governor, who said that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has despite its challenges been able to hold a national convention, challenged the APC to try and do the same.

He stated this when he spoke with newsmen after the PDP Niger East senatorial district meeting at Paikoro in Niger State.

“Two and a half years after they came into power, the APC is becoming scared of its shadow. They have become too afraid to hold a convention after the first convention they had that brought in the executives. Fear is the reason why the APC is unable to hold its convention,” he said.

Aliyu, who said that “the people now understand the difference between both parties,” boasted that the PDP by 2019 was going to wrestle power from the APC especially in his state Niger.

The former governor said, “2019 will be the year of the PDP. We will not deceive the people; we will ensure that the people are given their right. We will ensure that no Nigerlite lacks food on his table. The PDP remains strong in Niger State.”

Also speaking to newsmen, the Niger State chairman of the PDP, Tanko Beji, hammered on the importance of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and called on members that had not registered not to wait any longer in doing so before it was late.

“It is with the PVC that we can think of outweighing the party in power. The PVC is very important. Please, go and register so that we can change the change,” he said.
