Keep your mouth shut if you can’t attract federal projects to Rivers, Wike tells Amaechi, APC

Rivers State’s Governor Nyesom Wike has accused the Minister of Transport and former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi, as well as leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of failing to attract any federal project to Rivers since 2015 when the party took control of power at the centre.

He has therefore called on them to keep quiet and allow his government to develop the state if they know they cannot attract federal projects to Rivers State.

The governor stated this after the flag-off of the construction of Umueze-Umuogba-Umuokpurukpu-Umueke-Umunju-Umuellechi-Eberi road in Omuma Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Saturday.

“The Federal Government has no tangible project in Rivers State after close to three years in government. These APC leaders from Rivers State have been unable to attract a single project.

“If you know that you cannot deliver projects to the people of Rivers State, you better keep quiet and allow us develop the state,” he said.

Wike argued that as a Minister of State for Education under the immediate past administration, that he was able to attract 22 key projects to the state and grants for Ignatius Ajuru University of Education and Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic.

He then assured the people of Omuma LGA that they were going to continue to benefit from key projects under his administration.

He added, “The lawmaker representing Omuma State Constituency, Rt Hon Kelechi Nwogu, has performed creditably and we can see his constituency project. Those who represented Omuma LGA in the past what is their legacy? For this administration, we shall develop the area.”
