Man in court for assualting police officer

An ex-soldier, Mr Danie Efe, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly being a member of a criminal gang that specialises in car theft in the state.

ASP Chuks Orisewezie, acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state who disclosed this on Thursday at the police headquarters Asaba, said 32-year-old Efe was caught with one Toyota Corolla car with a fake number plate, PBT 214 AA, along the Sapele-Benin Road by the Safer Highway Patrol team.

“After preliminary investigation, the suspect and the exhibit were transferred to the State Intelligence and Investigation Department, Asaba, where a thorough investigation was conducted and the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted to being a member of the syndicate,” Orisewezie stated.

Meanwhile on Monday, another group was also caught on the same route carrying a Toyota Corolla with fake number plate, KMK 129 AE, in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.

The PPRO who disclosed that the suspects would be charged to court, warned criminals to stay away from the state or be ready to face the full weight of the law.
