Falcons to face Gambia in 2018 AWCON qualifiers

​The Super Falcons of ​Nigeria will face​ their Gambia​n counterparts​ in the second round of the qualifiers for the​ 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Ghana.​

​Gambia scaled through the first round after seeing off Burkina Faso on penalties after the second leg of their tie ended 3-3 on aggregate.

​Gambia lost​ 2-1 to Burkina in the first leg ​and won ​2-1 ​in the second leg​, ​before winning​ ​5-3 on​ penalties.

​​Super Falcons ​are the reigning champions of the biennial competition ​and they will begin their journey to retaining the title they won in Cameroon two years ago.
Gambia and the Super Falcons will face each other in June.

​The African Women’s Cup of Nations will hold from 17 Nov 2018 – 1 Dec 2018; and the ​winners, runners up and second runners up​​ will ​represent the continent​ ​at​ the 2019 World Cup in France.
