Gbajabiamila set to officially throw hat into the ring to contest for House speakership

Lagos lawmaker who represents Surulere II federal constituency, Femi Gbajabiamila is set to officially declare his intention to run for office of the speaker in the ninth assembly.

Gbajabiamila, who is the majority leader of the House of Representatives revealed that much when his office stated that the lawmaker will officially declare his intention at an event that will be staged on Sunday by 2pm at the Lagos/Osun hall of Transcorp Hilton hotel, Abuja.

Mr Gbajabiamila’s office also announced Abdulmumin Jibrin, a Kano lawmaker, and former chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations as the director general of the campaign.

The move by Gbajabiamila is seemingly coming in good time as the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership is expected to announce the zoning of positions in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
