GOMBE: After winning guber poll, APC beats PDP to majority seats in state legislature

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Gombe state has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of 19 out of 24 seats in the state House of Assembly poll held on Saturday.

This is contained in the results made available by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state on Monday.

The REC, Umar Ibrahim, announced the results on Monday in the state.

There were 253 candidates from 34 political parties contesting for the 24-legislative seats in the state. Out of the 253 candidates, 18 or were female. However only two Women emerged victorious.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which presently holds the majority seats in the house with 16 members as against APC’s eight clinched the five remaining seats.

The APC won in eight local government areas including parts of Shongom Local Government Area while the PDP netted Billiri, Nafada and parts of Shongom.

The LGAs won by APC included Akko, Gombe, Yamaltu-Deba, Funakaye, Balanga, Dukku, Kaltungo and Kwami.
