Govt finally arraigned ex-Gov Suswam in court

The Federal government on Friday finally arraign a former governor of Benue State Gabriel Suswam.

The former governor who was arrested and has been detained for sometime was arraigned on charges of illegal possession of fire arms.

Suswam was brought before a Federal High Court in Abuja, from the detention cell of the Department of State Service (DSS).

The former governor was also said to have derived from acts of corruption, 25 designer wrist watches worth millions of Naira.

The Federal Government also accused him of concealing arms, wrist watches, 29 rounds of 40 MBG Whinchester Ammunition and 56 Rounds of 7.66m live Ammunition, in his Mercedes Benz 550 4Matic car.

After the charges were read out to him, Suswam pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by Justice Babatunde Quadri, who presided over the matter, to the tune of N500 million with one surety in like sum.

Suswam as the immediate past governor of Benue State, he was in charged of the state governance from 2007 to 2015.

His arraignment on Friday came days after Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who was arrested and recently released by the DSS shared how the former governor told him that the security operatives refused to let him know the reason he arrested and kept in prison.
