Gunmen abduct lawyer in Osun

Chairman of Correspondents’ chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Nasarawa state, Suleiman Abubakar, and abducted his wife, Yahanasu Abubakar, have been attacked by unknown gunmen in the state.

Suleiman who is the correspondent of a Kano state owned newspaper told newsmen that the incident took place at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, along Gudi-Garaku road in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the gunmen shot at the Union’s bus they were travelling in from Keffi, where his wife went for registration at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp.

He explained that all who were in the vehicle ran into a ditch while trying to escape from the robbers.

Suleiman added that after being shot at, the gunmen swooped on them, took his wife, the wife of a former state Assembly member, who they gave a lift as well as two other women from another vehicle during the attack.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Samaila Usman confirmed the incident and said the command had already mobilised officers to the area in search and rescue of the abducted women.
