Gunmen free abducted sister, mother of Nasarawa lawmaker

Unidentified gunmen who abducted the sister and mother of Nasarawa lawmaker Mr Kassim Mohammed-Kassim representing Akwanga South constituency have freed their captives.

Reports say the victims who were abducted at their residence in Moroa village in Akwnaga at about 8 pm on Saturday night regained their freedom to the delight of family members.

A close family source also informed that the family parted with an undisclosed fee as ransom to secure the release of the abductees.

Confirming their rescue of the victims in an interview with NAN in Lafia, DSP Kennedy Idirisu, the Nasarawa State Police Command spokesman said it took the combined efforts of the police, the vigilante and other security agencies to secure their release.

Idirisu who vowed that the police would not relent until the kidnappers are brought to justice also said he was not aware that the family parted with ransom to secure the release of the abductees.
