More heat for OAU lecturer as graduate claims he also pestered her for sex 20-yrs ago

The heat following the controversy surrounding the alleged randy lecturer Professor Richard Akindele who was caught on tape requesting for sex from one of his female students in exchange for marks is about to get hotter.

New revelations suggests that the lecturer in question may be habitually randy after AIT newscaster, Lara Owoeye-Wise, shared the direct message she got from a former OAU student who alleged that the accused lecturer, had asked her friend for sex when she was his student 20 years ago.

The newscaster shared the message on her Facebook page with the caption “#OAU ‘sex for marks’ scandal, Updates from my inbox” which recounted the story of her friend who alleged that the lecturer also demanded sex from her too while she was an undergraduate of the university.

“Good Morning. I didn’t want to react to the piece you posted on the OAU case because of notifications after I do so. I left Ife twenty years ago and I remember one of my part two accounting friends telling us to pray for her because one of her lecturers insisted on sleeping with her before she can pass his cause. She did not give in and we prayed over it.

“The man changed his mind and said he was only testing her. I sent this latest clip to her to tell her how things have not changed over twenty years later in the same department. She currently lives in Ireland. She responded to my message that this professor in the news was the same lecturer then who was pestering her. I have had a few chats with people who finished from that department and they said everyone knows about him,” her message read.

Meanwhile, the wife of the lecturer who demanded five rounds of sex from a female student before she can pass his course has denied the allegations against her husband saying the devil is out to tarnish her husband’s reputation.

Reacting to the recorded phone conversation of the professor who is also a clergyman at the Anglican Diocese of Ife, Osun State, one of the church members said they went to the professor’s house immediately the news broke on social media.

”When we heard the news, some of us were surprised. We were at his house very early this (Tuesday) morning but only met his wife who said the devil is at work to soil the name of her husband,” he said

However, another church member said there will be no need for a computer test on the leaked audio as the voice is definitely that of the professor.

”There is no need for any computer to test the voice. The voice in the leaked audio is exactly that of Reverend Richard Akindele. However, the man is too gentle for such act. The lady purposely set him up.” he said

Meanwhile, authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University according to reports have moved to set up a committee to look into the audio clip of the telephone conversation of the scandal with a view to verifying its authenticity.

That much information was revealed by the Public Relations Officer of OAU, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, who said the university, would set up a committee to ascertain the veracity of the telephone conversation.

He said: “We have listened to the audio and we cannot conclude on it now because this is the age of ICT; anything can happen. The university has a way of dealing with such.

“First and foremost, we will set up a committee to determine the veracity or otherwise of the conversation to establish authenticity of the characters involved. If those involved happen to be our lecturer and student as it is portrayed, the university has a machinery of dealing with such.

“Let me make it clear, OAU has zero tolerance for sexual intimidation, sexual harassment and sexual coercion. So, we will not accept it from staff to students; from the workers; from superiors to subordinates and even from students to students,” Olanrewaju added.
