Herdsmen allegedly slay farmer in Benin

A farmer, Alex Igemeti, has been reportedly slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen at a farm in Okada, Ovia Northeast Local Government Area of Edo state.

According to wife of the deceased, Margaret Igemeti,  her ordeal started on Wednesday when her husband left home for the farm and did not return.

She said a search party was later raised only to discover the remains of her late husband in the thick of the bush on Thursday evening with his throat slit.

Some irate youths reportedly combed the camp of the Fulani herdsmen later and set it ablaze after discovering that it had been deserted.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okada division confirmed the incident and said that a report has been made at the command headquarters in Benin.
