HIV positive man remanded in prison custody for molesting 14-yr-old girl

A 40-year-old HIV positive man, Audu Ado, of Gwarjo village in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State has been remanded in in prison custody for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl for a period of five months.

Ado was said to have committed the crime despite knowing his HIV status.

The suspect was arraigned before Hajia Fadile Dikko of the Katsina State Senior Magistrate Court, who ordered him remanded in prison custody until August 24.

The father of the victim, Ibrahim DanMalam, was said to have reported the crime to the Matazu Divisional Police headquaters when he noticed the unholy alliance between his daughter and the suspect.

DanMalam had told the police that the suspect took advantage of the girl’s naivety and lured her into a nearby bush where he violated her while being conscious of his HIV status.

During his arraignment, the police prosecutor, Sergeant Lawal Bello, informed the court that Ado’s actions contravened the provisions of Section 283 of the Penal Code Law, adding that investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
