I want to give back to Chelsea – Drogba

Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, has expressed his desire to one day return to his former club in any given capacity.

According to Drogba, he would love to return to Chelsea and give back to a club that did so much for him. “I want to give back to the club which has given so much to me. I have agreed that with the club directors,” Drogba told BBC Africa. “Why not manager? Why not sporting director, trainer at the academy or maybe an advising role for strikers?”

The Ivorian international also believes that Major League Soccer is a harder competition than the Premier League in some ways.

Drogba, who won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League during two illustrious spells with Chelsea, has just completed his first season in MLS with the Montreal Impact, where he helped the Canadian side to the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

And the Ivorian has revealed that playing in North America has proven harder than he anticipated in a number of ways.

“People think it’s easy to play there, believe me it’s harder than playing in the Premier League,” Drogba said. “Because of the travel, you can stay at the airport three or four hours if you miss your flight.

“That’s what makes it hard so as you can see there’s not many away wins. And also of course there are also some very good players in this league.”

Drogba scored 12 goals in his first season in the American league, having managed four in the Premier League in his final season as a Chelsea player.
