REAL MADRID are facing a year-long transfer ban similar to the one FIFA imposed on Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.

Real are understood to have been investigated over the transfer of underage players.

FIFA banned Barcelona for the two transfer windows of 2015 after they were found to have broken regulations.

The disciplinary committee of the world’s football governing body is yet to make its investigation public.

“FIFA is not in a position to confirm such information,” a spokesperson told Spanish newspaper, Mundo Deportivo.

“Please understand that judicial proceedings are confidential.”

MD report that the final decision was made in July but that FIFA have made no moves to implement the sanctions.

It is understood that Real would appeal any sanctions and that this could push back a potential ban to the summer 2016 and winter 2017 transfer windows.

FIFA investigated the cases of 50 youth players, which Real have moved to justify the signing of each one. The club claim 23 were from member sides of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
