Super Eagles - Ahmed Musa

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have again defeated their Libyan counterparts in the race to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, and are now standing at the top of the group.

Having beaten the North Africans 4-0 in matchday 3 clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium last weekend, the Eagles again triumphed 3-2 at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri, Sfax in Tunisia on Tuesday night.

A goal by Odion Ighalo and another by Ahmed Musa put Nigeria ahead early in the first half, but the Eagles squandered their two-goal lead as Libya fought back to level in a one-sided second half.

Ighalo then creatively finished off the winning goal, his second goal of the night and his fifth in two matches.

Mohamed Zubya and Ahmed Ben Ali were the goal scorers for the Libyan team.

Earlier on Tuesday, South Africa were held to a goalless draw by Seychelles in Victoria – a result that now puts South Africa in second place in the group.

Libya are now third with four points from four games and Seychelles occupy the bottom of the log with one point also from four games.

The Super Eagles still have an away game against South Africa and a home clash against Seychelles, as the race for tickets to AFCON 2019 continues.
