Immigration hands over 23 Togo returnees to Lagos govt for COVID-19 screening

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Sunday received 23 Nigerians who had just returned from Togo at Seme-Krake Joint Border Post and subsequently presented them for coronavirus test.

The National Public Relations Officer of NIS, Sunday James, said in a statement the returnees have been handed over to officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health in line with the directive of Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) for further screening.

The breakdown of the returnees is as follows: Anambra (6), Ogun (3), Delta (3), Edo (2), Imo (2), Oyo (1), Benue (1), Abia (1), Enugu (1) and Ekiti (1).

According to the statement, the Comptroller-General of the NIS, Muhammad Babandede, has received the report of the returnees and directed that the control post carry out proper profiling and documentation of the migrants.
