Impeachment scare: Ekiti Assembly complex shut

The Ekiti State House of Assembly was shut down yesterday in an apparent move to forestall an alleged impeachment move.

A source in the Assembly told The Nation that Speaker Kola Oluwawole ordered the Clerk, Mr. Tola Esan, to close the Assembly complex “till resumption from recess on October 8”.

Following the order, civil servants working in the Assembly began leaving for their homes at 10 am.

The source noted that the “fear of the unknown” may have prompted the action as some legislatures had been hit by impeachment.
