IS militants gun down 2 Egyptian policemen

Hours after three foreign tourists were stabbed by suspected IS militants who stormed a hotel in the Red Sea resort of Hurghada on Friday, Gunmen have killed two Egyptian police in the city of Giza, officials say.

Moments after the attack, the so-called Islamic State (IS) group said it was behind the killings in a country where instability has threatened its important tourism industry.

In recent times, Egypt has been battling an insurgency largely based in the Sinai Peninsula which became more active after the overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.
According to reports, the attacks which are gradually creeping closer to the capital Cairo, has witnessed the killings of hundreds of security force members and government personnel.
