Barely two weeks ago, Turkish Airlines flight TK624 caused a security breach at the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, when it failed to deliver the check-in luggage of its passengers from its base, setting off all sorts of ripple effects.

The airline is at it again, as it has again failed to arrive Nigeria with the luggage of its passengers from Istanbul, Turkey.

The incident is also coming few days after the airline was ordered by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to pay compensation to the affected passengers on board flight TK624 whose luggage were delayed by the carrier for some days.

The General Manager, Public Affairs, NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye had explained that the airline under the supervision of the Consumer Protection Officers (CPO) of the regulatory authority ensured that the passengers were paid full monetary compensation as contained in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs).

This time, the airline according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) again on Saturday delayed passengers’ luggage in a flight that arrived at 12.35 pm.

This reoccurrence according to the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mr Yakubu Dati made the Managing Director of the agency, Engr. Saleh Dunoma to advice the airline to resolve the recurrent cases of arriving passengers without luggage once and for all.

Dunoma gave the advice at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, where he expressed the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika’s displeasure to the management of Turkish Airlines.

Dunoma described as unacceptable, this reoccurrence barely two weeks after a similar incident led to a breach of airport security.

He called for quick and lasting resolution of this unwholesome act capable of disrupting the peace and harmony of the airport.

He however appealed to passengers to remain calm and law abiding as the authority was making frantic efforts to find a lasting solution and safeguard their rights.

An airline official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, explained that the airline was not a first time offender.

The passengers, he said did not breach security this time apparently because airport authority officials were there to calm them down.
