Israeli soldiers gun down Palestinian man after alleged stabbing attack

A 28-year-old Palestinian has been shot dead by Israeli forces after an alleged stabbing attack near the Kiryat Arba settlement, east of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank.

According to Israel’s military, the man allegedly attempted to stab a soldier at a checkpoint near the entrance of an illegal settlement in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

“A Palestinian assailant approached an Israeli security crossing near Kiryat Arba … with a knife in his hand. In response, IDF troops neutralised the assailant,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

The death of the victim identified as Wael Abdulfattah al-Jaabari who was killed on Monday by the entrance of Kiryat Arba, a Jewish settlement on the eastern outskirts of Hebron was confirmed by the Palestinian health ministry.
