Iwobi: Playing against Messi unbelievable

Super Eagles and Arsenal youngster, Alex Iwobi, has said playing against world footballer of the year, Lionel Messi and his Barcelona teammates was a massive boost to his confidence despite the Gunners’ elimination from the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old winger was a surprise inclusion in Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up for the Champions League round of 16 second leg at the Nou Camp.

The Gunners failed to overturn their two goal deficit from the first leg and eventually ended up being dumped out 5-1 on aggregate.

“It was crazy,” he said.

“To play against one of the best teams in the world in one of the best stadiums in the world is a young man’s dream.

“I was pleased because, especially at 19, I never thought I would be here playing against the likes of Messi, Neymar and Suarez. I am just happy to be here.

Iwobi who is a nephew of former Eagles captain, Austin Okocha, is in Nigeria’s squad to play against Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers billed for  March 25 and 29 in Kaduna and Alexandria respectively.
