Jimoh Ibrahim’s emergence illegal, says aggrieved aspirant

Aggrieved aspirant of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Mr Olusola Ebiseni, has described the faction’s governorship primary which Jimoh Ibrahim won as illegal.

While he said that the primary by Sheriff’s faction is an anti-democratic contraption that cannot stand, he added that the alleged nomination form issued to the factional governorship candidate, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was suspicious.

“With the current position of things at the national headquarters of the party, the form may not be a genuine one,” Ebiseni said, referring to the form issued to Ibrahim.

Sheriff’s faction conducted its governorship primaries in Ibadan, Oyo State, where Ibrahim emerged winner having polled 502 votes as against Ebiseni’s 21 votes. Three other aspirants who are Bamiduro Dada, Niran Sule and Abiye Ademuyegun stepped down for Ibrahim leaving only Ebiseni, who went ahead to partake in the contest.

But addressing newsmen in Akure on Monday, Ebiseni said the Ibadan primary was “fraught with irregularities and a mockery of democracy,” adding that he had already petitioned the Appeal Committee of the party to redress the matter.
