The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced April 13, 2019 as the date for rerun elections in Rivers State.

This was made known in Abuja on Thursday by INEC commissioner for information and voter education, Festus Okoye, at a press briefing in Abuja.

Okoye added that collation and announcement of results in the state’s governorship election would take place between 2nd and 5th of April, 2019, at a venue to be decided by stakeholders.

INEC would meet with security agencies and critical stakeholders in the state on 29th March while Certificates of Return will be issued to successful candidates on 19th of April.

Recall that INEC had suspended electoral process in the state during the March 9 governorship and state House of Assembly polls following reports of violence.
