Kaduna abolishes admission fees

As part of efforts to improve the educational sector in the state, and encourage more of its people to go to school, the Kaduna State government has abolished the payment of fees and processing charges in the state-owned tertiary institutions.
Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Usman-Adamu, said all state owned tertiary institutions have been directed to comply with the government directive on the matter immediately.
Dr Usman Adamu said under no circumstance should prospective students be subjected to buying scratch cards for admission forms or pay processing fees in any of the state-owned higher institutions.

He said admission into higher institutions should not be treated as a revenue- generation drive at a time all hands should be on the deck to improve the quality and standard of education in the state.
The commissioner said government has also given directive that all non-teaching occupants of school quarters should vacate the premises within 90 days.
He said henceforth teachers transferred to other schools should vacate their official quarters within six months to give way for other occupants.
