KANO: SUBEB boss abducted, kidnappers make demand

A top official of Kano state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Uba Muhammad has reportedly been kidnaped by yet-to-be identified gunmen who abducted him at his Shiye village home, located at Bunkure local government area of Kano state.

Reports say the gunmen who whisked away Alhaji Muhammad at gun point in the early hours of Saturday have reached out to his family demanding a princely sum of N20 million as ransom to secure the release of the government official.

A family member who declined to be named revealed that the matter has been reported to the police and the authorities are doing everything to respond to the report tabled by the family.

The family member said; “It was shocking news on Saturday when the development became news. He was kidnapped at his village where, he mostly, spends his weekend.

“We were told by the family that some people invaded the family house with guns and took him away. We have already reported the case to the government and relevant security apparatus and we hope the man will be rescued soonest,” the family source added.

The kidnap of Alhaji Muhammad has been confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer of Kano State, DSP. Magaji Musa Majia who assured that the victim will be rescued alive.

The PPRO also confirmed the ransom of N20 million demanded by the kidnappers as ransom to effect the release of Alhaji Muhammad.
