Malami says PDP crossed the line by accusing him of colluding to influence S’Court on Rivers APC

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has dismissed allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claiming that he is plotting to reverse the Supreme Court judgment on Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that the APC had been barred from fielding candidates for the 2019 elections in Rivers, owing to an internal crisis in the state chapter of the party.

The PDP, on Sunday, accused the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami of conspiring to void the March 9 Rivers State governorship election.

The party claimed received information of how desperate figures of the APC and its agents have been mounting pressure on the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Mohammed, to reverse the February 12, 2019 final judgment of the Supreme Court.

PDP also named Malami as the one to mount pressure on the Acting CJN, Justice Mohammed, to effect the reversal.

However, dismissing the allegation on Wednesday in Abuja, Malami said the PDP exercised its power of freedom of speech in excess.

Speaking with State House correspondents, he stated, “Regarding what was levelled against me by PDP, I think it remains an accusation.

“It has to remain so until proven through a judicial process.

“But, for me, I think it is freedom of speech that has been taken too far.”
