Mideast crisis: UAE, Sudan back Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has gotten support from its allies over its row with Iran after diplomatic relations broke down when Iranians attacked Saudi embassy in Tehran after the execution of Nimr al-Nimr.

Saudi Arabia’s regional allies Bahrain, Sudan and UAE have stepped up diplomatic pressure on Iran, breaking or downgrading relations with the country following the attack on the Saudi embassy.

Within hours after Bahrain announced that it was closing its embassy in Iran, and called upon Iranian diplomats to leave the country within 48 hours, Sudan also followed suit saying it was cutting off diplomatic relations with Iran “in solidarity with Saudi Arabia”.

Reports also say the UAE is also preparing to cut ties with Iran following the dispute over the execution of Nimr and 46 others.
