Nigerian Army seize 3 truck load of ammunition

Eagle eyed officers of the Nigerian Army have intercepted three truck loads or ammunition following an intelligence report by well meaning Nigerians.

Reports say the seized ammunition which were loaded in three trucks with the number plates –ANAMBRA AAH 409 ZV, LAGOS BDG 782 XU, and LAGOS GGF 88 XU – were intercepted at Balogun village, along the Igbogila-Ilara Road, Ogun State.

During a press briefing, Maj. Gen. Enobong Udoh, the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division of the Nigerian Army said the trucks were intercepted by troops of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Maj. Gen. Udoh said; “The live cartridges, packed in boxes and cartons, were carefully sealed inside a concealed compartment constructed underneath the trucks.

“On sighting the troops, the drivers and other occupants abandoned their trucks and fled.

“Efforts are on to track down and possibly arrest the fleeing drivers, their crew, corroborators and sponsors.”
