Trump apologises to May, set to meet with Putin amid Russia meddling charges

There seems to be no end in sight just yet to put a stop to partial government shutdown after US President Donald Trump met with congressional leaders.

Reports say no agreement came out of the meeting between Trump and the congressional leaders to end a partial government shutdown now in its 12th day.

The reason however is not far fetched as Trump still stuck to his demand for $5 billion (3.97 billion pounds) in border wall funding which is fiercely opposed by Democrats.

The meeting comes after a package of bills that would re-open the federal government without approving money for Trump’s border was introduced by US House Democrats.

According to reports, the package to end the shutdown will include one bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security at current levels, with $1.3bn for border security, through February 8.

It will also include six other bipartisan bills to fund the departments of Agriculture, Interior, Housing and Urban Development and others closed by the partial shutdown.
